Hi,
My name is Marco and I welcome you to my website, Photography By Marco aka Marco Trovalusci Photography.
My deep interest in photography began, in earnest, in the late 1990’s spurred on by my love of the Australian outdoors and through reading and absorbing the books, articles and stunning images created by American Master Nature and Landscape photographer, John Shaw; Master Photographer, lighting specialist, Director and consummate story teller, Joe McNally; Nikon Ambassador, Sports and Lighting Master photographer, Dave Black; One of the Great, Wildlife and Nature photographers of our time, Frans Lanting and, more recently, the extraordinarily talented Wildlife photography and gifted educator, Steve Perry. It was these extraordinary talented people, and others like them that ignited my passionate interest in the practice and art of photography. I am still learning, and am constantly refining and deepening my knowledge about exposure, composition and, more importantly, the quality of light and its pivotal impact on the making of a ‘Great’ picture. Unfortunately, like many of us around the world, the Covid 19 pandemic enforced an unwanted break curtailment of activities for a couple of years before we slowly returned to some form of normality.
Though now retired photography has always captured my imagination and in a way allowed me to visually express the passion I have always had for the wild, natural world together with a growing interest in the human condition. In the beginning photography was purely to document my experiences and observations. However over time, and a refined skill base in both a technical and artistic sense, I found I needed to interpret rather than just document those experiences and observations. Art and creativity are, I believe, built into the human condition and adds a necessary layer of meaning to our existence. In many of us it just needs to be cultivated by the right 'vehicle'. For me, and others like me, that vehicle is 'photography' and its resultant image refinement process.
In my journey as a photographer I have worked with and assisted other professional photographers on assignments and events at local, state and national levels e.g. Australian Tourism Exchange National Conference in Cairns; Cairns Cultural Festival events for Tourism Queensland; covered sporting events (Rodeos, Triathlons, Surfing), including commissioned to edit and post process raw images from a New York Wedding for a well-known Australian horse racing sports identity. I have also had the opportunity to be contracted by an Australian fashion house as the First Assistant and locations scout for an internationally recognized fashion photographer on a national fashion campaign launch. I have found, however, particularly rewarding my investment into personal projects such as a study of Australia’s Great Bower Bird and Birds of the Western Queensland Wetlands. These experiences, along with many publishing opportunities have all contributed to my on-going development as an eclectic, passionate and versatile photographer.
I have been, among other things, a freelance photographer, photo educator and local North Queensland tour guide.
Thanks to my friend and colleague Andrew Watson from Andrew Watson Photography for the portrait above. He is an experienced photo educator and talented Commercial, Travel, Architectural, Event and Editorial photographer working out of Cairns.
